So this week was pretty much just a normal missionary week. their truly wasnt anything super spectacular that happened. so first!! I will answer your questions
1. Their are some really cool foods around here. I Can buy things like coconut water and drink it straight out of the coconut, There are butcher shops and bakeries on just about every block so thats pretty cool. i´ve learned how to make this way awesome pudding stuff. its probably the greatest thing ever. haha! plus i think my weakness here is the ice cream. its not super expensive and every one sells it. =)
2. the biggest difference that i´ve noticed so far are just the people in general. its certainly not utah. haha! its been pretty interesting becuase people know who the missionaries are. i´ve had a couple drunk people come up to me talk to me as if i´m actually jesus. plus the people are just usually really loud and in your face. Its certainly a culture thing.
3. cooking? well i can make rice. haha! i´m watching my companion cook and he´s really good. but i havent really had the chance to actually try it out myself. so... can i cook? not really sure yet haha!
4. most of what i´ve learned has been pretty gospel oriented. mostly about people and how their reletionships are with god. its pretty interesting the way that different religions here worship. most of the time we have the churches playing really loud gospel music and having their congregation sing with their hands above their heads. so sorry no cool awesome talents yet. just watching people. =)
5. Yep we have cell phones. but its really hard to use cause we have a VERY limited amount that we can use each month. when we make a call we have to know exactly what we are going to say.
6. Laundry is interesting. we have a washing machine, but its certainly a little different then home. it takes about an hour for it to fill up with water and yes when i´m done i need to hang up my clothes on the line. my clothes are usually a little... crusty for a couple days.. haha!
7. rain... its a stinking flood when it rains. haha! its pretty cool to watch cause the streets arent FULL of water but when it rains yes it pours and i cant usually walk in the streets without getting my pants a little wet.
8. you know i´m not sure how much its light and how much its day. right now i think it is pretty close to 12 and 12 hours. i havent really taken not of that yet.
9. our home does not have air conditioning but their are some places that do. and its pretty wierd stepping into a room with air conditioning now. usually the church is cold and its pretty nice to sit in their for some time. but most of the time i just have to drink more water. it hasn´t been awful for the past couple weeks but it certainly hasnt been cold. its always at least warm. usually we resort to sitting directly in front of our fans. (we each have our own.) so usually yes, i just sweat it out all the time.
OK! time to tell you about the greatest prank ever that happened to me. it was really pretty good
the other elders who live with us in the same house decided to make up a little story to scare the poor american boy. haha! so heres what they do. They make up this story about how this Serial killer is around and what he is doing is capturing people and putting them in the water tanks above the houses. that way when the blood drains from the bodies it comes through the pipes and freaks people out. well This ´´killer`` the first day killed 3 people. then 2 more. then 2 more again. they keep me posted on how this killer (who does not exist) is killing people and draining the blood in the water tanks. SO after about three days of keeping me posted on this story and making sure that i´m just slightly on edge all the time, i take a shower in the morning to get washed up for the day. i turn on the water and all of the sudden red liquid starts coming from the shower head... HOLY CRAP!!!! needless to say for about 5 seconds flip out. then i catch a huge wiff of suger... turns out that what came out of the water head was strawberry koolaid... so i wrap up in a towel open the door and i see three big smiles that break up into laughter. the other elders got me good. haha! so yes it was certainly an eventful morning that morning haha!
well! thanks so much for the prayers. Know that i´m always praying for you guys too. hope all is well as always!
Elder Cornwall
